Odisha is set to further strengthen its logistics infrastructure with the development of seven new Gati Shakti multi-modal cargo terminals. The initiative is part of the national PM Gati Shakti framework aimed at improving freight efficiency, reducing logistics costs, and enhancing multimodal connectivity across India. The announcement was made by the Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw in the Rajya Sabha recently. He stated that seven additional Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals have been approved for Odisha, supplementing the ten terminals already commissioned in the state. The expansion is expected to significantly improve freight movement and support industrial growth across multiple districts. Officials noted that the new terminals will play a vital role in strengthening Odisha’s industrial supply chains by enabling faster, more reliable, and cost-effective transportation of goods. Existing terminals are already benefiting key sectors such as cement, steel, mining, and manufacturing. With the addition of seven more facilities, Odisha’s logistics ecosystem is poised to gain enhanced capacity, efficiency, and competitiveness.
