Mysuru Airport’s long-awaited expansion has moved a step closer, with a joint land survey and on-site inspection marking the start of the formal transfer of 206.1 acres required for upgrading the facility. Airport officials said the land transfer will pave the way for infrastructure enhancements that will allow the airport to handle larger aircraft, including Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 models. Currently, flight operations at Mysuru Airport remain limited. The airport offers scheduled services only to Hyderabad and Chennai, with daily flights operated by carriers such as IndiGo and Alliance Air using ATR turboprop aircraft. Earlier air services to destinations including Goa, Kochi, Belagavi and Hubballi were discontinued due to low passenger demand, leaving the airport with just two active routes for now.
